AGATIZED CORAL
Lowndes County, Georgia

Who: Kramer Family – Mom, Dad, Grandpa, Mike, Diane, Jon, Bill, and our Persian long-haired cat Boomerang

This trip was three days camping along the river in the back woods of southern Georgia.  It was perhaps our second trip to this site and we found plenty of specimens to take back to Maryland.  See also my story “Agatized Coral” in the Gallery / Jon’s Almanac  section of this website for a thorough and colorful description of this region.

  • Mike directs Dad along the rough river trail in our 1968 Ford Galaxy station wagon. I later acquired it and named it Conquistador.
  • Diane pulling coral heads out of the river.
  • Grandpa loved to join us as we dug rocks around the country.
